- I am one with the Force. the force is with me
- I am one with the fORCE…. THE FORCE….is with me…
- I am ONE with the FORCE………..The FORCE….IS…with me….
If you’ve watched the latest Star Wars movie – Rogue One, then you would have this chant playing in your mind as well.
But what is this force really?
(I’m right now at my favorite Starbucks café. I like working here. I like to be among with warm, friendly and happy energies around me. Its snowing again today in Vancouver….So beautiful outside!)
Anyway, back to the force….
There are many definitions…. but to many, THE FORCE is a binding, metaphysical and ubiquitous power that is everywhere in the Universe.
If you ask a Qigong practitioner, he or she would call that Qi.
But the ancient Daoist and Buddhist scientist monks?
They didn’t believe in memorizing esoteric concepts…
They believed in learning – by doing
And starting simple..
And they made it as simple as one, two, three.
What do I mean by that?
Let’s start with One shall we?
Supreme Unity, the Dao: The ancient Daoists and Buddhists believed that everything is connected. You, me, he, she, them – we’re all connected in one way or another. If you really think about it, the Universe or Uni-verse literally means One tone or One song.
They believed that if we emulated the Universe and nature, and became one with the Dao, we would be able to achieve health and vitality much easier. 🙂
Think about it.
If I told you right now that…
- Everything that you’re going through right now.
- Every pain or suffering that you’ve come across…
- Every opportunity or good news that you’ve ever received….
Everything happened for a reason..
Wouldn’t you feel more relaxed, safe and less stressed?
Will help you recognize and reveal the oneness
….that already exists within you!
We can talk for hours about the Dao, but let’s move on to Two..
The Two: The Yin and Yang:
People have spent their entire lives exploring and understanding the concept of The two.
It doesn’t have to be complex to begin with…
Yin and Yang are opposites.
- Cold and Hot
- Wet and Dry
- Near and Far
- Sad and Happy
- Dense and Diffuse
- Local and Universal
- Conserve and Spend
- Substance and Energy
Can you think of any others?
The ancient Chinese believed that true health was a result of the balance and harmony created due to opposing Yin and Yang.
What does Science call this?
Homeostasis – the ability of the body to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in external conditions.
Now, it gets more interesting.
Your body has certain Yin meridians/channels reserved for Yin energy.
It has certain Yang meridians/channels reserved for Yang energy.
All the Chinese healthcare practices such as Acupuncture, massage, herbal medicine, Qigong and Tai Chi are focused on creating a state of balance within your body using the knowledge of Yin and Yang.
Wonderful. Isn’t it?
Ok, moving on to Three.
The Three Treasures: Jing, Qi and Shen:
As discussed earlier, Qi is the invisible force that is all around us.
The force that creates and sustains life.
There are three types of Qi.
- Body Qi (Jing)
- Mind Qi (Qi)
- Spirit Qi (Shen)
Now remember that… all these energies are still YOU.
They are just different expressions of you…different stages of you…
Let’s dive a bit deeper..
Jing Qi: It’s a subtle form of the physical self. The Jing is a dormant force. This form of energy has to do with the neurotransmitters, hormones, DNA, sperm and the egg. This energy is more local.
Mind Qi: This form of energy has to do with our emotions, memories, thought, creativity and intuition. As you might imagine, it is non-local and insubstantial.
Have you heard people say that your memories and emotions sometimes get stuck in a certain part of your body – becoming stagnant and causing issues?
Well, Qigong practice helps you move and circulate your Qi, boosting your health and vitality!
Shen Qi: This is the most refined form of energy. Shen Qi is your eternal, immortal, non-local, multi-dimensional being. Its is greatest connection to the Universe while still retaining your individuality!
But like I’ve suggested earlier, it is not necessary to really memorize or remember all of this.
All we’re doing now is building our awareness of the way the Universe works.
And the foundations are as simple as
One, Two, Three….
Once you begin your Qi cultivation, you will embody these wonderful concepts.
The practice will take you to a whole new level of ‘knowing’.
And when you revisit this post sometime in the near future…
You will say, aha…
Makes total sense now!
Its truly as simple as One, Two, Three.
